Are there different types of jaundice?

Types of jaundice: Jaundice = bilirubin in the bloodstream. This can happen becaus the healthy liver is presented with too many precursors to handle metabolism properly, because the liver is 'sick' or because the liver's excretion pathway is blocked. At times the jaundice is minor and fluctuates secondary to an enzyme problem that is of no ongoing concern. Without exception a reason for the jaundice must be sought.

Lab test, skin color: If the skin looks like it is getting deeper yellow, then the jaundice is getting worse. Other places to look are the urine and the stool. Jaundice will make your urine very dark yellow and your stools will be pale gray. The most accurate way to tell is by a blood test for the total bilirubin level.

It depends: Jaundice is a symptom of liver disease or hemolysis. Depending on the cause of the jaundice (assuming it is liver disease), associated symptoms could include nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, weight loss, fever, pale grey stools, dark urine, and diffuse itching.

It is a symptom: If you catch a disease that affects the liver such as hepatitis which induces jaundice then yes. But the yellowish color is a sign of another underlying problem.

Jaundice: This is a sign of a potential serious condition (pancreatic cancer-steve jobs, gallbladder stone are just two example). Get a good exam and testing.

There are no natural cures for jaundice. Jaundice is a symptom, not a diagnosis.
