Can somebody give me info on induction of labour please?

Labor induction: Labor is induced when their is a risk to mom or baby if the pregnancy continues. Elective inductions are done after 39 weeks because not all babies are ready until then. If the cervix is already open, usually an IV med (oxytocin) is used and the water is broken. If the cervix is not open, a med in the vagina over 8-12 hours is given to start opening it.
