That is possible.: If a person is given large amounts of morphine it could cause marked respiratory depression which may lead to death.

Can you tell me if morphine can cause a terminally ill person to die sooner?

It can. Super rare.: Principle of Double effect. the nature of the act is itself good, or at least morally neutral; the agent intends the good effect and not the bad either as a means to the good or as an end itself; the good effect outweighs the bad effect in circumstances sufficiently grave to justify causing the bad effect and the agent exercises due diligence to minimize the harm. It rarely happens.
A 33-year-old member asked:

Can you tell me if morphine can cause death in a terminally ill person?

Complex question: An overdose of morphine can cause death in anyone, not just the terminally ill. Morphine is often used to ease the suffering and pain of the terminally ill. It is not unusual for someone who is terminally ill to finally be comfortable and at peace with their pain medicine and they pass. This does not mean the morphine was the cause of their death.
