A 22-year-old male asked:
is an orthopedic the right doctor to consult for vitamin b12 and vitamin d3 deficiency ? i face neuropsychiatric symptoms coz of b12 deficiency too.

No: There is not much consulting to do re: d3deficiency- the problem should be readily corrected by taking appropriate amounts of d3 (5-10, 000 iu/day)- see http://bit.Ly/1gnxnk0
b12 is a bit more complex-unless you're vegetarian this means you probably have trouble absorbing b12. A gastroenterologist, hematologist, neurologist or general internist likely knows much more about this than an orthopedist.

Yes: Building healthy bones & teeth. While your bones provide an abundant supply of calcium for your developing baby, you can insure you're not depleted of this vital mineral by taking 1500mg of calcium and 400 units of vitamin d daily while pregnant and breastfeeding too. While many prenatal vitamins contain the later, they often don't have enough calcium. Dairy products or a supplement will suffice.

My 2 year old son is with fever for one day and running nose for 5 days. What should I try?

Check-up: How high is fever? What colors is drainage from nose? There could be many causes. Illness in children is most likely a virus and symptomatic control is usually all that is needed. I would advise you to a make an appointment with his pediatrician if you are concerned.

See an eye doctor: Swelling and pain around the eye may be caused by an infection. If left untreated, it can potentially get into the eye socket and even the brain. Your aunt should be evaluated by an eye doctor immediately.
