A 16-year-old male asked:

Is there a research about the possibility of green tea or black tea acting as DHT or dihytestosterone blockers?

Limited research: The best study i found was a study on mice showing black tea reduced DHT levels by 72% while green tea increased DHT by 194%. I'm not sure why there would be such a large difference between the 2 as they are the same plant in different forms- see http://jn.Nutrition.Org/content/133/2/516.Full#sec2 I found several sites claiming green tea reduces DHT but it was based on this same study!see comment:.

Obviously more research is needed, esp. human studies. In researching this I found dozens of websites saying green tea is a DHT blocker but none cited any studies. As often happens, people were repeating what others said without investigating. I did find a couple that mentioned a Harvard Study that showed "drinking green tea reduces DHT" but they are actually referring to the above mouse study!

Fascinating the way people can misconstrue actual data from studies. :-)
