for past week had really bad nasal congestion i wake up at night and have difficulty breathing what could be the cause?

A cold: You may just be having a common cold. However if the problem persists beyond 10 days, there is a good chance that your cold is complicated by a sinus infection. You try a topical nasal decongestant at night for a few days to see if it helps.
