Needs further workup: This could be due to a vitamin or nutritional deficiency--proteins and b vitamins are very important to hair growth. However, hypothyroidism and other metabolic disorders could cause hair loss. A good lab workup would be helpful.

Need workup: A thyroid check, a check for liver disease (including hemochromatosis), a close look for fungal infection, a good history and physical to rule out telogen effluvium. Others. Despite all the "pop" stuff online, nutritional deficiencies in people not in restrictive diets are seldom the cause of puzzling symptoms / signs.
