It can be: Although an excellent mild analgesic it still has opioid based mu receptor properties and therefore withdrawal symtpoms can occur. Taken in excess it can have addictive properties as any opioid based medication, however it is not as potent. The other problem is that taken in excess tramadol lowers your seizure threshold and you may experience a grandmal seizure. Take as prescribed.

No, but: It's considered safer than alternatives - so.... If you really need a pain killer, it might be what you choose. While i understand that it's very hard to deal with addiction, it is possible for many. 12-step groups are often part of being successful. In this case - pain might have a silver lining if, while you obtain some relief, you also confront your addiction issues. You'd feel justly better!
