2 year old is rubbing her ear after a bath for 2 days. could this be an ear infection or just water in the ear? how do i tell?

Someone looks: In the absence of fever, change in appetite or behavior i wouldn't assume an ear infection. In an unpublished study during residency we found only around 5% of kids pulling their ears as a presenting complaint had one. To be certain, only someone looking into the ear with proper equipment would be able to say for sure.
