Ok dose to decrease: If doing ok after a week or two can stop check with your doctor who knows you before changing dosage.

Diazepam likely stays in your body for more than 24 hrs, and It has very limited usefulness now, and definitely not for sleep. Discuss insomnia and related causes of sleep disorders with your doctor.

Tapring diazepam: You can wean off yourself in 3 to 6 weeks. Your 1st step is right step that you are lowering dose to 2.5mg.Do that for 2 weeks and then go 2.5mg every other day for 2 weeks and then 2.5mg every 2 days for 1 week and then stop.
