Follow up: Chronic kidney disease can be caused by a number of medical conditions, hypertension (high blood pressure) is just one of those. Isolated elevated blood pressure readings are not an accurate way to determine if you have high blood pressure. The best way is to get a series of blood pressure readings over a couple weeks and get an average, then follow with your doctor for further guidance.

No problem: If your blood pressure stays mostly below 130/ 80 and you do not have other risk factors such as diabetes then you are at low risk for developing kidney disease. Exercise, eat mediterranean type diet, use nsaids sparingly, maintain healthy weight and sleep and make sure you don't have sleep apnea or impaired fasting glucose. Check lipids and cardio CRP and you will have all your bases covered. :.
