Evaluation needed: If this is a new lump and especially if you have risk factors like a family history of breast cancer or the use of estrogens, then you should have this evaluated quickly but it is not an emergency. You should see your OB gyn or family doctor and initiate the process.

Breast pain sources: Since this is on one side, make sure that there was not breast trauma by "bumping into a car door" for example. Make sure that there is no "lump" by self-examination and if so go directly to the md-( do not pass go).

Depends: If you have breast implants the pain may be related to the implant capsule. If there are no implants, then there could be a multitude of reasons for the pain ranging from cancer to infection to trauma. Regardless of whether you have implants or not, if the pain persists for more than a week then you should consult your physician.
