Vary your program: Low weight, low speed, high number of reps - bulk high weight, low speed, low reps = strength low weight, high speed, medium reps = endurance do one pattern one day each week. Don't do any body part two days in a row.

Immediately: If we are to be technical about it, your cells are constantly undergoing a life cycle and trauma of any sort can have an impact. Your body is designed to process the cell remains and then replace dying or broken down cells. Muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) becomes a problem especially in the elderly or in those with kidney issues when the kidneys cannot process the breakdown products.

No: If your muscles get sore, this indicates you need to stop and let your muscles rest. When you work out, your Lactic Acid production increases causing the pain you described. In order for it to be washed away, your muscles will need to rest.

How can you stop muscle hurting while exercising?

Should not have pain: If you have pain during exercise, you are overdoing it, or something is wrong. Delayed soreness after exercise is normal, but pain during exercise indicates something is wrong! I am not talking about Lactic Acid build up in muscle which i experience when lifting weights or taking a mountain bike up an incline-that is normal.
