Ask your OB MD: From the cdc website - the centers for disease control and prevention (cdc) now recommends the antimalarial drug Mefloquine for pregnant women both as a malaria treatment option and as an option to prevent malaria infection for all trimesters. Previously Mefloquine not recommended for the treatment of malaria in pregnant women. You will need a rx for it so to be sure ask your OB doctor to be sure.

Antimalarials: Some antimalarial medications are considered safe to take during pregnancy. A pregnant woman is advised not to go to areas where malaria is quite prevalent. Your question would be best answered by an expert in public health and infectious diseases as well as by your obstetrician.
