how long is conjunctivitis contagious for on clothing and can it be transferred from garment to garment?

Dr. Martin Raff

Conjunctivitis: Depends on cause. Both bacterial and viral conjunctivitis are highly contagious and spread by direct contact with infected eye secretions, or contact with objects or surfaces that have been contaminated with these eye secretions. If allergic, no worry. Thorough washing of these inanimate objects should resolve the issue. Some bacteria may remain on material for days to weeks.
