i have a sharp pain or cramp behind my right ear at the base of my head and down my neck. i can't move at all. excruciating pain.

Trapezius spasm: It inserts at the base of the skull and goes down to both shoulders and middle of your back. You probably aggravated it during sleep when your neck was turned to one side for a long period. You could try some ibuprofen, used as directed and see your physician for a work up because it could also be reflex muscle spasm from nerve compression in the neck.
