Taking a test?: No breath sounds on the left after placing an endotracheal tube usually means the tube is in too far and is only aerating the right lung. Simple fix, pull the tube back.

A 32-year-old member asked:
My right lung hurts when I breath unless I breath really shallow?
1 doctor answer • 5 doctors weighed in

Dr. Allen Seely answered
General Practice 31 years experience
Pleurisy or other dx: Pain with breathing is called 'pleuritic pain'. Pleurisy or pneumonia can cause inflammation of the 'lung lining' so it is important to distinguish these 2 causes. Pneumonia usually has other symptoms: cough/fever/fatigue/short of breath. A chest xray can help make the diagnosis. The treatment for pleurisy is 'anti-inflammatories' (nsaids) such as aleve (naproxen). Hope you are better soon!

A 46-year-old member asked:
What does breathing have to do with my cilia and lung cells?
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in

Dr. Gurmukh Singh answered
Pathology 49 years experience
Clearing the airways: Ciliated cells line the trachea, bronchi and smaller airways. The beating of the cilia transports any particles, that land on the them, towards the mouth and on the way such particles may be coughed out or swallowed. Maintaining the potency of the airways is essential for breathing.

Dr. Michael Bolesta answered

Many things: If you have recent vigorous activity you may have pulled a chest muscle, but it it is severe or if you have other symptoms (like trouble catching your breath or a sense that you cannot get enough air) see your primary provider or go to urgent care or er. Also see your primary if it does not go away with simple other the counter medication (try if pain not bad and no other issues).

My lower right lung area feels like it falls asleep. It's not worse when I lean over to my left. Doesn't affect my breathing. It doesn't look swollen.

I do not: understand what you are referring to when you say your "right lower lung" YOU CANNOT SEE YOUR LUNGS or "feel" them and in particular you cannot know how your right lower lung (lobe) is functioning!
So....what in the world are you referring to??

Lung capacity: I am not sure what is meant by 4 scoundrel. Please let your parents know about your concerns. They can make the decision if this needs medical attention. Take care.
