Maybe: You may or may not develop outbreaks in the future. Some people only become carriers and do not get breakouts. Blood tests to see if you're carrying the genital herpes virus may not turn positive until 4 months from your exposure.

Terrible: That sounds terrible and mean, i hope that didn't happen to you. I don't think it's prosecutable, by law, but you would have to check with a lawyer to answer that definitively.
