When breast fed babies skip days without having a bowel movement does it cause tummy aches?

No: As surprising as it may seem, breastfed babies appear to be in little or even no discomfort from not having a bowel movement. In fact, they may normally go without one for days and even a week. Had a case of no bowel movement x 2 weeks (excessive) but then had a normal one. I'd not wait that long, though, because there may be another issue going on such as not enough milk ingestion.

Bowel movements: Breast fed babies can skip up to seven days and more. This does not cause pain although when they do have a movement they may grunt and make faces, but this is normal. The most important thing is a normal soft to watery consistency.
