Yes: A bankart proceedure when indicated works very well to stabilize the shoulder. The procedure repairs the tear in the anterior labrum of the shoulder. This structure helps to hold the head of the humerus in its socket. When torn, you may find you occasionally dislocate the humeral head from its socket.

Bankart repair: Bankart repair is successful in making the shoulder joint stable. Both the open repair and the arthroscopic repair have reported success rates exceeding 90%.

Yes.: Both the open and arthroscopic version work well, but both have a failure rate, meaning that the shoulder can dislocate after surgery. Generally speaking, this risk is low. There are several factors that increase this risk, such as young patient age, involvement in contact sports, multiple prior dislocations, bone loss, generalized ligamentous laxity, poor rehab, etc. Your doc can assess for risks.
Dr. Vivek Agrawal

Yes: Shoulder instability is often more than just a localized labrum tear such as the bankart lesion you mentioned, especially in patients that have chronic or multiple episodes of instability. The decision for surgery also depends on the level of symptoms and the extent of pathology. The shoulder is a circle so balance important.
