Can be: It may be normal for you a diabetic would feel weak at 86 but a non diabetic probably goes to the 80's several times a day

Candy and blood test: Not yet. But if the blood sugar is above 99 at 2 hours, or a fasting blood sugar is above 99 the you should be worried and call your doctor. Meanwhile you should get checkups and maintain a healthy live style.

What are the "normal", (non-diabetic) blood sugar ranges, if tested before and after meals?

Normal Fasting 65-99: For fasting blood sugars, the exact range will vary from lab to lab, but in general 65-99 is considered normal. For someone without diabetes, blood sugar 2 hr after meals should be < 140.

Diabetes: One number alone without other testing tells us nothing here on this app. Diabetes is a complex disease process. If you are on medication and get a normal blood sugar then the medicine is probably working. But, the real test is the hemoglobin a1c to see what your average blood sugar over a three month window looks like.

65-100: If drawn from a vein and processed by a lab. Finger sticks are less accurate and more variable. See diabetes.Org for more info.
