Is it ok to mix tegretol and lamictal together for bipolar patients?

Yes by experts only: Yes, these medications can be use together. Because tegretol increases the activity of some liver enzymes, the effective blood concentration of Lamictal may be lower. This is a complicated pharmacokinetic interaction and requires the input of an expert psychopharmacologist to do safely.

Interactions: Tegretol will increase the metabolism of Lamictal therefore the dose of Lamictal needs to be increased to compensate for this.
