A 17-year-old male asked:

how long do i use clindamycin antibiotic for acne witch dose i take 150 or 300 ?

Depends : I usually start with the lowest dose every day and combine it with a benzoyl peroxide wash and watch for the response. If after a month the response is not good i go up on the dose. The antibiotic can be continued in definately as long as it is needed and it is working.

No: Probably not-- most causes of vomiting and diarrhea, at least in the developed world, are not bacterial infections and do not require antibiotics. In fact, antibiotics may make vomiting and diarrhea worse.

Benzoyl peroxide: Most of the OTC skin products for acne are safe in pregnancy. Simple soap and water works great, as long as you understand that the high Progesterone levels in the first trimester are the cause for acne -- by the end of the third month, most major flare-ups are over.

No: Unlikely that would happen. However using antibiotics chronically can lead to drug resistant strains of bacteria which is becoming a growing problem world wide.

This is not the same: You are referring to photodynamic therapy treatment for acne. We do not use this type of light therapy in dentistry. There are special lasers to treat oral conditions, but not the same.
