What could mimic dark bloody stool? Months now of maroon-tinged sticky gunk (mucus?) with & w/o stool. Looks like blood but home occult test neg + GI workup found no blood source. Not anemic either.

Mimic blood in stool: Perhaps some pigmented foods e.g. Beets or food coloring, or perhaps chemicals like peptobismol or something you are taking for constipation.
