It is simple: You should undress yourself and look in the mirror while standing and note any deformity or asymmetry. Then you can use the flat part of your fingers and gently palpate your breasts one at time looking for any lump or thickness. Then lie down in a bed and repeat the procedure, going over the whole breast. If you have any solid mass or thickeing, you need to report it to yr doctor. Cysts are soft, .

Learn your lumps: The most important thing in breast self exam is to learn what is a normal lump for you. Breasts are naturally lumpy but have a pattern. Anything that does not feel like your normal tissue, should be evaluated by your doctor.
