whats essential hypertension?

Hypertension: Essential hypertension is due to genetic/hereditary issues. It means that the cause of high blood pressure is not due to any reversible causes - fix it and it goes away. Many patients require several medications to control their blood pressure adequately. Thanks mom and dad.

Essential = Physical: basis not recognized (beyond 24/7 mind/brain control), ie. another term for idiopathic. BP is a balance of CO (CardiacOutput=HeartPumpOutput) vs. TPR (TotalPeripheralResistance), both under 24/7 brain control (hidden with physical responses). Doctors can’t physically see mind or brain control (Study: https://goo.gl/e1RBFU), only the resulting behavior, thus call the behavior essential/idiopathic.

In my experience, the assessment that high blood pressure is not reversible is inherently untrue. This is promoted by many physicians who choose to only focus on medications they can prescribe (easier, faster for the doctor to offer + recurrent business opportunity, Study: http://goo.gl/Blh6rW), ie. body mechanic, while ignoring the human (mind & brain) which control body behaviors 24/7.

Essential HTN: I have specialized in essential hypertension 54 years. "Essential" is doctor language for we do not know the heck is causing it. It runs in families and gallops in others. At least 50% with EHT have salt sensitive BP. By reducing salt intake BP may be better. I recommend the DASH Diet at NIH.gov. Review and discuss with Dr. If taking 4 meds or if K ever low have Dr. check for Conn's Syndrome.

Hypertension: Yes. It can be. Essential hypertension is the most common form of high blood pressure. It means there is not a secondary cause for the hypertension. It is usually very treatable but like any other chronic condition can be life-threatening if ignored or not treated appropriately.
