Tendonitis: This may be an inflammatory condition like tendonitis. If you're able to take antiinflammatories like Ibuprofen with food it should help. Local cold or warm applications and liniment like bengay may soothe it. Plain x-rays don't show these type conditions. An orthopedist could diagnose it if no relief is attained.

Chondromalacia: Painful grinding of the knees with bending is usually a sign of a condition known as patellar chondromalacia. This refers to an irregular or rough cartilage surface of the kneecap. Exercising to strengthen the thigh muscles is the best treatment. Oral nsaid's such as Ibuprofen may help. Orthopaedic consult may be necessary to assist in treatment.

Possibly: Problems like these can only be correctly handled by your doctor in person. He/she needs to listen to you, perform an examination and possibly run labs or other tests. That's the only way he/she can find out what's going on and what to do about it.
