Fillers: Restylane (dermal fillers) and Sculptra are both fillers that may be used for cosmetic reasons. Restylane (dermal fillers) is temporary and lasts 6-9 months and can be removed easily. Sculptra lasts longer but is difficult to remove.

They are different: Restylane (dermal fillers) is a filler and the results are immediate, and last about 4-6 months. Sculptra not a filler per se, it's a collagen stimulator and the collagen your body produces is what ultimately fills the wrinkles, after about 3 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart. The results are not immediate, it may take about 1-2 months to see the results, then, it may last up to 2 years.

Restylane/Sculptra: Restylane (dermal fillers) adds fullness to hollow areas and fills in moderate to severe wrinkles. Also, it can be injected into the lips, cheeks, and hands to add volume for a younger appearance. Restylane (dermal fillers) can last up to 6 months. Radiesse fills in facial folds, lines, and depressions and lasts up to a year or longer.

Consultation: Only through examination of the surface issues you have would an md be able to advise you as to whether Restylane (dermal fillers) or another product, or no filler at all might be indicated. For sagging and gravity problems a surgical lift might be indicated. For animation lines a neurotoxin might be needed.

What are risks of Restylane (dermal fillers) injections?

Safe/short lasting: There are pro's and con's to every procedure. The main risk with any injectable fillers are lumpiness, over-correction, under-correction, needing to repeat procedure periodically. There is a rare risk of injecting the filler into a blood vessel, which can lead to blood flow compromise. With blunt needles, or microcannulas, this risk is reduced. An advantage of Restylane (dermal fillers) that it can be dissolved.
A female asked:

Why doesn't sculptra produce immediate results like other facial fillers? I've read about how it takes time to see any results from sculptra. But other fillers show results immediately and then just take a little time to settle into final results. Why is

Builds collagen: Sculptra is unique in that it is the only product that produces results solely by stimulating collagen production. This usually takes the body several weeks and months to produce this collagen. With other products, the material is injected to create a volume effect. This is instantaneous and will last as long as it takes the body to break the product down.
