Minimum discomfort.: Ambulatory phlebotomy is a procedure whereby varicose veins are removed. The patient is awake and the areas to be treated are anesthetized with a local anesthetic (tumescent) followed by removing the veins through 2mm punctures. Usually no sutures are used and the procedure is well tolerated. Post procedure you should be able to get back to most routine activities within 3 to 5 days.

Post phlebectomy: After ambulatory phlebectomy you should be surprised by how little pain you experience. There will be a bulky dressing to absorb leakage of anesthetic fluid that was infiltrated, but hardly any bleeding. Your dressing will be reduced in a few days to just a stocking, allowing more mobility. You may see small adhesive tapes over the entry sites. Expect little to no bruising and less bulging veins.
