Well, not good..: If u have 'loose joints' ( elbows, fingers, shoulders etc.) and have hyperextension ( recurvatum) @ both your knees it's not 'bad'just the way u are...! in my experience, people w/ hyperextension @ the knees occassionally have trouble w/jumping sports( basketball, gymnastics..)real problems w/ instability occur if they tear there acl( hopefully not!)again, the vast majority of people do well... Gl!

Knee chill: The chill may be from sitting so long that the nerves to the knees are being compressed by the edge of the chair pushing on your legs. Try getting up frequently and stretching your legs and see if the chill goes away. If this gets worse then see your doctor for an examination.

More than the VMO: Strengthening of the vastus medialis obliquus muscle is only one part of the non-operative treatment of patellofemoral hypoplasia. General quad strengthening, and lateral reticular stretching are other important considerations and i usually recommend at least a short course of formal therapy for patients to learn the correct techniques for these exercises. Bracing can also be helpful.

Common, not normal: Knees cracking and clicking (crepitus) when squaring down is a common condition, but not necessarily normal. Most commonly this crepitus is due to roughness to the cartilage behind the knee cap. Treatment involves maintaining range of motion, ice, anti-inflammatory medications, and knee strengthening exercises. Persistent pain should be evaluated by your doctor.

Goutmonosodium urate: There are different types of acid. The most common we associate knee pain and arthritis is gouty arthritis. Gout is related to a build up of uric acid in the body with increased uric acid storage and the deposition in the joints of sodium urate crystals ( crystal related to uric acid). Uric acid crystals can be seen in the urine, but in the joint it is monosodium urate crystals.

Yes: Feel free to ice down your knees for 5-10 minutes at a time when they ave been overused and hurt. Reusable ice packs that go in your freezer are available at most drug stores.
