Need more info: Difficult to diagnose from picture. If the medicine prescribed did not work then you need to get second opinion from your physician /dentist or an oral surgeon.

I agree totally. There is nothing like seeing the problem first hand and doing a complete exam of the head and neck for other problems.

Glossitis or ulcer: Sorry could not see photo's. Impossible to diagnosis without complete exam and history. An ulcer can be like a canker sore(aphthous ulcer);glossititis can be a geographic tongue(migatory glossitis). All need different treatments; a biopsy may be needed. You should see some one trained in lesions like oral medicine/oral pathology/oral surgeon.

Glossitis: Glossitis is a wastebasket term in that any tissue may have an "itis" (or inflammation as this ending implies) associated with it. In this case, it can be infectious, traumatic, chemical, immune system, or neoplastic. You need a skilled examination by a provider who sees tongue abnormalities on a daily basis--an oral surgeon--to plan a course of action. Despite any photos, biopsy may be indicated.
