No: No they are not. Diet has very little influence on serum uric acid other than alcohol.

Uric acid is soluble in water, and simply moves freely across the joint capsule. When concentrations of uric acid are strong enough, or if you become dehydrated, the acid crystalizes. A joint aspiration with a needle and examination of that fluid is the definitive way the diagnosis of gout is made - by looking at the crystals under a microscope. Serum uric acid levels help, but don't confirm .

What causes a high uric acid? Whether it can be cured?

Several: Some have a deficiency that makes them unable to eliminate enough uric acid. Others produce too much. Chemotherapy causing the bursting of blood cells can cause high uric acid. Uric acid when too high can cause kidney stones and gout attacks. It is unhealthy for the blood vessels. A diet low in purines (search web for "gout diet" or "low purine diet") can help. Meds sometimes are needed.

Decease red meat: Reducing red meat intake usually helps to lower uric acid. There are some other foods. Allopurinol is a drug which helps to lower uric acid. Please check with your doctor.
