Yes.: Many different conditions can affect the results of a liver function test. Medications, alcohol, infections, GI abnormalities, cancers, fatty liver and other medical conditions can alter liver enzymes. Some are less dangerous than others but it is usually important to find out. See your doctor about it.

Sure,...: Elevated Liver function tests may occur for a variety of issues from Fatty infiltration (hepatic steatosis), viral illnesses such as the hepatitis viruses, Alcoholism, increased use of medications that metabolize through the liver (such as Acetaminophen), cirrhosis, biliary disease, tumors, gallbladder disease, etc, etc. Get an evaluation for the most likely cause of your LFT elevations.

liver blood assays: Are groups of clinical biochemistry laboratory blood assays designed to give information about the state of a patient's liver.[1]the parameters measured include pt/inr, aptt, albumin, bilirubin (direct and indirect) and others. According to some[who?], liver transaminases (ast/alt (sgot/sgpt) are not liver function tests, but are biomarkers of liver injury in a patient with some degree of intact.
