Leptin is made by fa: Leptin is made by fat cells in response to meals and calorie availability. When energy is present in abundant amounts, fat cells tell your body to consume fewer calories. Obese patients can be "leptin resistant" with high levels of circulating leptin without it having a strong inhibitory effect.
