You gain weight.: Overall, you should gain weight unless you are obese or overweight at this time. This is a good time to eat healthy and supplement with prenatal vitamins. It is not a good time for caloric restriction or food consumption. It may be a good idea to disucss with your obstetrician or a nutritionist or registered dietician.

You don't: Pregnancy is not the time to be on a weight-loss regimen. The wisest thing you can do is maintain activity, eat healthily, and try to limit your weight gain with the baby. Talk to your OB about your concerns. But please do not go on a weight loss diet when pregnant.

Even women who start their pregnancy significantly overweight are not supposed to lose weight during pregnancy. Newer recommendations are for patients who are obese to not gain any weight during pregnancy (simply to maintain their starting weight), though that is extremely difficult to do in pregnancy. Can limit to 15# weight gain by increasing proteins/veggies/fruits/whole grains; dec simple carb
