Gargle: If your tonsils have craters in them you can retain food particles which get rotton as well as bacteria.
Try gargleing with salene or try a water pic to flush the tonsils.

Bad breath: Maintain regular dental visits. Brush and floss thoroughly at least twice a day. Clean your tongue with a tongue scraper or toothbrush...See your dentist or dental hygienist for proper technique.
Control your gerd with diet.
Gargle with mouthwash to try and flush debris from the tonsil areas.
