Uv burn: If you are close enough and do not wear eye protection, the uv light from the welders arc can cause a sunburn to the cornea termed welder's arc burn. This can happen to the lids also but no other damage will occur.

Blepharitis: Blepharitis, (a common disorder where the eyelids themselves become irritated) can be treated with warm compresses and supportive care. The viral form of conjunctivits(or "pink" eye) can be treated similarly; and in most mild cases simply be observed. In some cases an anti-allergy medication [like a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or an over the counter claritin] can be taken to alleviate the itchy sensation.

Brown eyespots: Most spots on the whites of the eyes are due to pigmentary cells from embryonic development which produce such spots. These are common, have a much higher incidence in darker pigmented races, and are mostly benign. Rarely a spot might be a melanoma - watch for growth, discomfort and redness as clues to this.
