Do illegal drugs affect people with mood disorders differently?

Probably: Presumably people with mood disorders already have a dis-regulation of their brain chemistry. Adding substances that can potentially cause further chemical dis-regulation is likely to have a negative effect. What's more, even when the individual chooses to stop using, it can take months to years for some of the brain's systems to bounce back.
