Varies some: Many are screened with blood or ultrasound tests that depend on non-specific findings that may suggest it.When screening is suspicious, a more specific test is done. Some older moms elect the specific test first.Chromosome studies of fetal cells obtained by cvs or amniocentesis remain the most specific in confirming or excluding the diagnosis.
