Recurring hives: If hives last more than 6 weeks, it is chronic hives. You should bring your child to see an allergist to be evaluated and treated. If your child also has abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and difficulty breathing, it might be an indication of an allergic reaction and needs to be evaluated. For simple hives less than 6 weeks, it is usually benign. Otc allergy meds can help with it.
