It sounds like you : Have some hurdles to get over. Does your religion ban use of psychologists/ psychiatrists or is this more of a relative issue? Mental health care actually blends well with many spiritual programs ; religions. Is your lack of trust soley due to religion or is it broader than that? Most people don't cherish the idea of a psychiatric evaluation or accepting 'mental health' care. Sometimes one needs >.

to deal with their "avoidance" to start becoming well. Avoidance is a hallmark of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I would insure that you aren't placing obstacles in your own way in order to avoid dealing with that which is painful. Take care.

Sadly traumatic: Events lead to lack of trust. Many religious leaders have been trained in therapeutic counseling techniques. Is there a religious leader whom you trust? Talk with them about the traumatic events, they may be able to help you. If not, they may know a therapist from your religious group who specializes in ptsd that they can recommend. If you have ptsd, professional help may be necessary to heal.
