how to know if i have an std?

1 doctor answer
Dr. George Klauber
Specializes in Pediatric Urology
Symptoms or tests: Symtoms include itching, redness or irritation of genitalia, burning on urination, vaginal or urethral discharge. Suspicion, if u had unprotected sex with a new partner. Should assume you have an std if partner has one. Dr can examine you, test discharge or take swabs which can be cultured ; will give definitive answer. Stds are very common, hence protection strongly advised, esp. For casual sex!

In addition, you should be assessed by a doctor familiar with STDs, since if you have one, you are at risk of having more than one. Definitely get tested for HIV and syphilis.
