Appropriate med: Zoloft/sertraline is effective for both generalized anxiety disorder and depression. A dose of 25 mg is relatively low; if it is not helping after several weeks a dose increase may be advised by your doctor.

A 48-year-old male asked:

What the best dose of Zoloft (sertraline) for gad and depression?

There is no one best: Dose. Each person is different. Usually start with a sub-therapeutic dose of 25mg per day (to help the brain get used to it). Then titrate upwards. Most often - a dose between 50 to 200 mg is a good one. However sometimes we need to use "off -label" dosing (higher than fda recommendation) to get a better response. The ultimate dose depends on how your respond (efficacy and side effects). Be well.
