i had a swollen testicle years back i got treated but since that i have never seen it again, what could be the problem or did lose my testicle?

Feel it: It seems you could have had an epididymitis but just to be sure, have your doctor tell you what you had. Most of the time we don't lose it. Orchitis from mumps as an adult can cause us to lose function when the swelling causes compression of the tissue by the capsule but i can't tell you exactly, your doctor can.

Testis atrophy: You likely had testis torsion which was mistaken for epididymitis. Probably had sudden onset of pain which remained swollen ; painful for a few days. Twisted spermatic blood vessels cut off testicular blood supply ; thus could not survive. Body gradually absorbed testicular tissue. Untreated testis torsion unfortunately leads to testicular atrophy. My sympathies.
