Severity of symptoms: One place to start in thinking about how to feel better is determining how severe your symptoms are, including : 1) frequency, 2) intensity, and 3) duration. If your symptoms are infrequent, mild, and have had a recent onset, things like exercise, diet, and self help books/ strategies might help. If the symptoms are frequent, intense, and long standing, you probably should seek professional help.

Depression: Individual and group psychotherapy are very effective in treating depression. Ask your doctor for a referral and for a physical to make sure there are no medical issues affecting your mood. Best.
