Clenching: Yes....You can damage the tm joint by chronic clenching if its during the day....Make an real attempt to not do it if at night.....You must get a lower niteguard to help protect your teeth and the joint dont mess with this....It can be serious see your dentist asap.

TMJ disorder: Clenching does not always cause TMJ problems, but it is a common cause. Tmj disorder is commonly caused by chronic grinding and/or clenching the teeth. Symptoms can include jaw pain, pain in the teeth, headaches or migraines, clicking in the joint when opening, yawning or chewing, worn or fractured teeth. If you are concerned, check with your dentist.
