You can quit smoking: First is you can quit smoking . The time-honored way is to set a day and make a contract with yourself and quit. Make it through the first day these are the most likely to quit it's the old thought of one day at a time. There are stepwise approaches including electronic cigarettes patches ; gum and a new drug called Chantix which works in some people.

Classes/meds/therapy: There are different approaches. Your md may be able to prescribe a med to address cravings, or there are otc patches, etc. There are behavioral change classes you can take. You can also go to hypnosis for this. As well, if you can't quit because you become too emotional, therapy may help with that aspect.

Utilize tools: Quitting is very difficult; it may take several attempts before you give up the habit for good. Success is increased if you have support and work with your health care providers. Research shows that a combination of nicotine replacement therapy or other FDA approved smoking cessation medication AND counseling is most effective as it helps you stay on track and overcome obstacles. Best wishes

You've already begun: Congratulations! you've taken the first step by wanting to quit. There are many possible next steps, but i suggest calling 1-800-quitnow. It is a free telephone counseling service, and is excellent. They can help develop a quit plan just for you, and support you along the way. And they often can give away aids like nicotine patches for free. Best of luck! you really can quit. I know. I did.

Quit smoking?: Definitely! nothing good comes from smoking. Increases your risk for lung disease like emphysema & chronic bronchitis, cancer of lungs, mouth, throat/larynx, stomach, bladder. Put those around you at risk due to second-hand smoke. Your doc can prescribe pills/patches to help you quit. Also good to avoid locations where you'll be exposed to smoke. If others @ home smoke, get them to quit, too.

Don't buy cigarettes: Think of your lungs turning black with every puff kinda like the inside of a chimney, think of all the money you can save, think of an ash tray filled up and then kissing that.....Think of bad circulation, breathing problems. Do you still feel like smoking?

Worth millions!: Anyone who could answer your question could make millions or billions of $s! Some folk have an easy time - others struggle. Motivation may be a big part and good distractions to stay occupied. This helps: breathe in a smoking pattern w/out the cigarette for about as long and often as you'd smoke. That is part of what you'll miss. It clears out the old air and is the 'baby' in the bathwater. Best!

Yes: All smokers need to quit smoking. However, the nicotine is extremely addictive, which is why the tobacco industry is able to keep selling so much of their products. One can work with his primary care doctor on quitting. There are ways the doctor can help.
