Persistent allergic cough since 10 days. yellowish phlegm at times. am taking cetrizine/expecorant. should i take antibiotics as there is no relief?

Cough x 10 days: After 10 days of illness it is time to call your doctor and get evaluated.

Probably not...: If your cough is due to allergies, you may have some bronchospasm which is best treated with a bronchodilator inhaler and possibly a steroid inhaler. You need to see your doctor for evaluation. You may even need pulmonary function testing to see if the cough is due to bronchospasm. Antibiotics would only be indicated if there was a clear bacterial etiology which you do not describe.
