Ripped off skin at thumb area while rinsing clothes last night. washed w/soap + betadine, used neosporin+band-aid, has white edges now after neosporin, is that normal? should i let it dry out tonight?

If minor..: You are going to hear varied opinions on wound care. Treatment of a specific wound is very visually based ie. It needs to be looked at by the person treating it. In general with an avulsion, most are just partial thickness and are best treated with daily cleaning with mild soap and water, antibiotic ointment and a dressing until healed.

Keep it covered: You may want to see a doctor for more evaluation. However, if you choose not to, keep the wound clean and covered. Avoid antibiotic ointments like neosporin as they can cause skin irritation, and watch for signs of increased pain or redness.
