Do homemade pregnancy tests work?

No: One can buy a urine pregnancy test at the store. It will give a reliable result, if the test is done correctly, 1 week after missing a period, or 3 weeks after sex (when conception might have occurred). If a woman's normal regular period happens, then she is not pregnant at that time, and doesn't need to do a pregnancy test at that time.

Are there any homemade pregnancy tests that I can take?

No: You can buy the test kit at any drug store. Do the test at 5-7 days after missed period and follow the instructions carefully. If you cannot afford to buy one, you may visit the Planned Parenthood clinic in your area for assistance. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

How do pregnancy tests work?

Measure hormones: Pregnancy tests measure the level of a hormone called human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hcg), which begins to be produced when the fertilized egg implants into the uterine wall. This hormone can be measured in urine or in the blood. The blood test is the more accurate of the two methods.

Why would you do: that? There are reliable test kits available in pharmacies/drug stores everywhere. I do not know what a bleach pregnancy test is, but it has no basis in biology.

No: Not quite as sensitive as blood pregnancy tests. If you've had unprotected sex and a missed period, see your dr. Also other causes of missed periods like hormone imbalance.
